Everybody talks of general knowledge but who knows clearly what general knowledge is? The word ‘general’ in dictionary means not special or specific, not restricted or specialized. It means general knowledge is not specific knowledge. The word General also relates to the whole or most, that means general knowledge relate to all knowledge but not anything specific. General also means widespread so general knowledge could mean knowledge that is commonly known. General knowledge means knowledge that is very well known or known by nearly everyone. So it means it is expected that everyone must have sufficient general knowledge especially for the things which are around him. An educated person is expected to have even a broader general knowledge than an ordinary person. What does it indicate if one doesn’t have any general knowledge? |
Knowledge is power and general knowledge is bigger power. General knowledge adds to personal enrichment and gives a better understanding of the world. It helps to do everything from planning to execution. ITheir general knowledge is tested in a paper or definitely in an interview. Anybody having a batter quality general knowledge is considered more suitable. A person having no general knowledge may not be unsuitable but he is considered so negligent and sluggish that he did not know or never made an effort to know what so ever was around him. It is expected that he will not do well in future as well. The very important general knowledge is of environments in which one has lived. First of all one must have knowledge about his home, the parents, brothers and sisters and home affairs. Then about his village then city and then his country and than the world. |
